I first met Annie at a wedding last year. Her bouquets just spoke to me. They were gorgeous. I have seen beautiful floral designs before, but there was something special about Annie’s. They are simply elegant and organic.

So last week, we headed to Sacramento as she prepared for a weekend wedding. The flower market was amazing. There were flowers I have never seen before as well as all my favorites.

Thank you Annie for a little education! I loved it!!

A couple days after the floral market, I headed to Van Ruiten Winery to watch as the flowers became art.

Charlie supervised the cutting and arranging…

With fast hands, Annie strips the stems and just instinctively knows where to stick the flowers and greenery. In moments she has a table bouquet ready for the wedding the next day.

I visited before the wedding to see a few of the finished arrangements. The site and the flowers were both breathtaking.

What a wonderful week I had and what an exciting week to come.

Last week, I worked with area floral designer, Annie Zunino, of AZ Floral Design. I learned so much, but more on that later.

As I waited for our adventure, she allowed me to venture about the ranch. Boy howdy did I have fun!!! LOL Textures everywhere!

I learned how to score-keep. I adopted a lucha libre.

We had our usual taekwondo and softball.

Madison modeled for me. She astounds me in her natural beauty inside and out.

I met the Tillamook loaf vehicle. Orange love.

Chase mowed the lawn.

I learned how to properly cut a mango.

Five Senses

Tasting:
Sweet mangoes.

Smelling:
Freshly cut lawn. Beautiful flowers.

Hearing:
The bat hitting balls. Dogs barking.

Feeling:
Sun on my face. Flower petals.

Seeing:
Seeing my friend finish her race. Dinner with forever friends. Kids playing.

Fresh strawberries from our plant. Sweet tea (a pleasant way to end the day.)

Hot dogs and popcorn aromas floating over the baseball diamonds.

Hearing:
Cheers for saving games and great hits. Little girls telling me how much they love me. Little giggles from smiling babes.

Feeling:
Happy to be a mom. Proud of my kids.

Seeing:
Crazy weather days. Patterns of succulents. Hearts on the ground. Boys playing football in the yard.

Beautiful Camryn came to play this week. I decided I would set up a couple of scenes, not what I normally do. I think it worked well with her bubbly personality.

Camryn has 6 teeth now, moving and grooving and just so full of smiles. And I love her dress!

Last Wednesday night I was given the challenge by our visiting friend, Ed. “Take me somewhere tomorrow, your choice.”

Ack! Panic set in. Where should I take him? We can’t make it to the City, I have to be back in time for the kids. Umm, Old Town Sac. Not this time… Where oh Where..

Locke. My favorite place in the world.

Evert time I come here, I find new things, I haven’t seen before. This time the museums were open. I had never been in them. Ed found things I have never seen before and will look for on my next visit.

The first Museum was filled with some of my favorite things.

The Dai Loy Museum is the gambling house. You could almost hear the men throwing dice and talking loudly, smoke filling the room.

Below is a photograph by James Motlow. I can look at it forever. It is one of my favorite in the Chinese School.

Be sure to take a day trip to visit Locke. If you have been before, re-discover it. This Saturday, May 11th, there will be a Asian Pacific Festival. The perfect time to visit.

I was suppose to shoot there once, but car troubles kept me from the shoot.

This place is beautiful. I suggest that if you have time, to venture through. It is filled with gorgeous flora and information.

The ceramic murals in the oak grove are beautiful!

I had fun spooking the squirrels that didn’t realize I was right there.

A baby bird was ejected from his nest during the windy day.

Afterwards, hungry from the walk, we looked for grub. We came across Redrum Burger in Davis. A cute diner, good food and neat history.

It was wonderful getting out of town, exploring a new area with friends.

Last week was a great week. We had a friend in town from Texas and I got to play…

There were thifting adventures, good food, flowers, sharing my favorite place in the world…

I had someone to co-pilot kids to activities, and who didn’t mind my incessant stopping to grab a quick photo.

Lodi House Thrift and Saigon Grill.

Strawberry stand. We made preserves the next morning.

Stockton thrift stores included, Superior Thrift &The Outlet (which looks like prices have gone way up since I last went).

Signs searching. We both love shadow paintings.

The UC Davis Arboretum I recommend everyone check out. I still half to see. It is peaceful and beautiful.

For lunch we checked out Redrum Burger.

Tasting:
Chicken Ortega Sandwich. Sweet, ripe strawberries and cherries. Chocolate ice cream with homemade strawberry preserves.

Smelling:
Peppermint soap. Flowers. Fries.

Hearing:
Squirrels in the under brush. Birds tweeting. Steps on wooden walkways.

Feeling:
Happy to see old friends. Lots of clothes on racks. Sun on my face.

Seeing:
New areas. Beautiful spring time. Coolest ‘stach this side of the the Mississippi.
